This morning Twin Falls police are continuing their investigation into a late night shooting that was reported around 9:30 last night.  Gunshots were reported near the Oasis Stop N Go in the 500 block of Washington Street North.  No reports of arrests so far and no reports of any injuries.

Here is a follow-up to a story we reported on earlier this week. A 28 year old man is facing aggravated battery following a shooting Friday.   A witness reported seeing Isaac Jauregui Ramos fire shots across 2nd avenue east near Liberty.  One shot struck Christopher Gonzales reports say.

University of Idaho President C. Scott Green is promoting the university’s projected fall enrollment increase, multimillion-dollar research grants and a “balanced” budget.  In the state of the college, the university president spoke to the process of developing a new strategic plan, before briefly touching on the U of I’s pending acquisition of the University of Phoenix.  Green also touted a $15 million grant for fire and drought research, and an $11 million grant funding a research center for women’s nutrition and health.

The organizers of an Idaho ballot initiative to restore access to abortion and protect all other types of reproductive care have filed four proposals with the offices of state attorney general and secretary of state the first hurdle the initiative needs to clear before gathering signatures.  Organizers say the group is putting forward four policies for approval but will only select one to be circulated for signatures.

Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students at an off-campus home, wants his trial moved from Latah County to Boise, but the State objects.  Kohberger's Defense Attorney filed a motion with the court for a change of venue.   The State has filed an objection arguing that the phone surveys conducted by the defense show that wide-ranging coverage of this case can be found throughout the entire State.

In a return to pre-pandemic norms, Idaho students can now gain automatic admission to the state’s colleges and universities based on two factors: test scores and GPA. State officials say the change will open doors to postsecondary education for more high school graduates, creating a pathway for students who don’t earn the required 3.0 GPA, but do achieve the needed scores.
