The Idaho Supreme Court issued its decision yesterday on where the trial of Bryan Kohberger will be held. Kohberger’s trial, and all further proceedings, will be held at the Ada County Courthouse and presided over by 4th District Judge Steven Hippler. His trial is set to take place between June 2 and August 29. He will be in the custody of the Ada County Sheriff’s office.
The newest director of the Twin Falls Refugee Center was once a refugee himself. Chandra Upreti's first 17 years were spent in a refugee camp. In 2008, his family was relocated to Twin Falls. The center was, for 43 years, run by CSI. In January, it moved under the national U.S. Committee on Refugees.
A Twin Falls man was sentenced to prison in a federal case after pleading guilty to aiding and abetting child pornography. 37-year-old Nicholas Glenn Baker was sentenced to 24 years in federal prison.
The U.S. Department of Commerce has approved Idaho’s initial proposals for the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment program a part of Biden-Harris administration’s Internet for All initiative. The approval enables the state to request access to $38-million and begin implementation of the program.
Some school districts are struggling to cover routine maintenance costs even as the state is delivering the largest single investment in school facilities in Idaho history. House Bill 521 directed an additional $1.5 billion in state funding to schools over the next decade. The legislation eliminated August elections for school districts, and it created new rules governing minimum instructional hours and days. The bill also altered the way school districts receive lottery funding in a way that’s leaving districts cash-strapped in the short term.
Officials say two people were badly burned and two others are believed to be dead after an explosion and fire destroyed a gas station in a small north-central Idaho town. The explosion at the Atkinson Distributing station in Cardiff and two people with severe burns were flown by air ambulance to a hospital in a nearby city. More people were believed to be inside the building. A semi-truck that was loading fuel into tanks that exploded is believed to be the cause.

The CSI Men's Soccer club suffered their first loss in conference play Thursday afternoon, as they fell to North Idaho 3-1. The CSI Women's soccer club continued their conference opening road trip with their second straight victory as they knocked off North Idaho College 3-1 yesterday afternoon.
Boise State University has accepted a formal invitation and been unanimously approved by the conference Board of Directors to join the Pac-12 Conference. The Broncos will join the Pac-12 Conference effective July 1, 2026, pending approval of the full agreement by the Idaho State Board of Education. Boise State will be joined in the reimagined conference with incumbent members Oregon State and Washington State, as well as Colorado State, Fresno State and San Diego State.
It was a 0 to 0 draw as Idaho State Soccer hosted the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in a midweek clash between a Big Sky mainstay and a former institution that departed for the WAC in 2022.
The Vandal women's soccer team defeated the University of Nevada, 1-0 on last Night. Karli Yoshida-Williams scored the go-ahead goal in the last minute, marking her second goal of the year.
From the local high school scoreboard from yesterday’s games, Canyon Ridge swept Bonneville 5 to 0. Mountain home downed burley 2 to 0. It was Jerome 9 Minico 0. Wood River defeated Twin Falls 2 to 0.
For the girls, Jerome downed Minico 4 to 1. Mountain Home took the win over Burley 6 to 2.
From the volleyball games, Twin Falls Christian Academy defeated Centennial Baptist 3 to 1. Shoshone shut out Castleford 3 to 0 Buhl outlasted Declo 3 to 1. Preston took the win over Filer 3 to 1. Burley for the win over Minico 3 to 1. Wood river took the game against Twin Falls 3 to 0. Mountain Home for the win over Gooding 3 to 1.

One of the largest cross country competitions of the regular season returns to Idaho Falls' Freeman Park this Friday, as 51 schools will participate in the annual Tiger/Grizz Invitational.
