The College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team made some noise this week, following up a win over fifth-ranked Salt Lake with a win Saturday over 10th-ranked Snow College in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. The Golden Eagles never trailed and shot 53 percent from the field, while holding the Badgers to 42 percent. CSI, now 13-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play, hosts USU Eastern Thursday.
Meanwhile, the 17th-ranked College of Southern Idaho dominated Snow College from the tipoff, winning 91-49 Saturday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. CSI, now 17-4 and 1-1 in conference play, host USU Eastern Thursday.
Boise State women's basketball staved off a late rally from San Diego State, winning 68-59, Saturday, at ExtraMile Arena. Boise State will be back in action on Wednesday as the squad heads to San Jose, Calif., for a matchup at San Jose State. The Broncos will tip off against the Spartans at 8 p.m.
For the BSU men, Boise State was once again clutch at the free throw line to withstand a late Nevada rally and pick up its second-consecutive Quad 1 victory, 64-56, Friday at Lawlor Events Center. Boise State is at home for a pair of games this upcoming week. The Broncos host UNLV on Tuesday, and San Diego State, Sunday.
The Idaho State men's basketball team wrapped up their West Coast road-trip Saturday night in Sacramento, California. The Sacramento State Hornets hosted the Bengals, the Bengals have fallen to the Hornets in 4 of their last 5 meetings. The final Sacramento State 66 Idaho State 64. The Bengal men's basketball team will return home to Reed Gym to host rivals, the Idaho Vandals, on Thursday at 7 PM and then Eastern Washington on Saturday, January 20th at 6 PM.
Meanwhile for the men on Saturday, Eastern Washington downed the Idaho Vandals 79 to 58. The ladies of Western Washington defeated Northwest Nazarene 88 to 60. Eastern Washington defeated the Idaho Vandal Ladies 67 to 44.
From the high school basketball games over the weekend, for the boys, Oakley defeated Rockland 46 to 43 Saturday. Other games were postponed because of the weather.
For the girls, Shelley defeated Minico 82 to 47. Other games again postponed due to the weather.
On the high school varsity schedule for today, first looking at the boys basketball games, Carey travels to Butte County and Gooding goes to Oakley.
For the girls, Minico gets on the bus and travels to Twin Falls to play Canyon Ridge.
