The girls basketball media poll is out for Idaho. Jerome is ranked 5th in 4 A play. Declo is in 4th place for 2A teams. In 1A D1 teams, we find Murtaugh coming in 3rd and Oakley 4th. Dietrich is ranked first in 1A D2 teams.
Boise State men’s basketball opens Mountain West play today at San Jose State. The game will air on FS1 at 8:30 p.m.
In games from yesterday from area high schools first for the girls basketball action, Murtaugh took the win over the Valley Vikings 72 to 50. Dietrich downed Rimrock 61 to 30. Grace for the win over Oakley 39 to 24 and it was Hagerman 39 Twin Falls Christian Academy 15.
For the boys, Hagerman defeated Twin Falls Christian Academy 67 to 36. Kimberly overpowered Jerome 63 to 58. Preston 65 Burley 43. Canyon Ridge for the win over cross town rivals Twin Falls 61 to 55.
On the local high school varsity basketball schedule for the weekend first for the boys, Dietrich travels to Butte County, Weiser will be in Gooding, Minico goes to Nampa, Castleford to Raft River, Murtaugh to Richfield and Buhl will visit Wendell. Canyon Ridge travels to Ridgevue, Kimberly goes to Homedale, Burley to Bishop Kelly, Liberty charter to Murtaugh, Gooding goes to Valley and Wendell will host American Falls.
For the girls, Cascade will visit Hagerman, Richfield to Glenns Ferry, Burley to Minico, Carey to Oakley, Jerome visits the Bruins in Twin Falls, Canyon Ridge heads to Mountain Home, Kimberly to Snake River, Liberty Charter will visit Murtaugh, Buhl to American Falls and Gooding will head to Declo. Wood River will travel to Vallivue.
