Some tense moments near Mountain Home yesterday morning after a suspect led police on a pursuit along I-84.  The Chase Bank in Downtown Mountain Home reported a robbery.  Police chased the suspect until employing a PIT maneuver.  The suspect left a backpack at the bank saying it was a bomb.  Turns out it was just clothes and water bottles.

Intermountain Gas has filed its annual cost adjustment with the PUC that if approved will decrease prices by 46-point 8 million dollars for its customers.  Residential customers would save just under $7 a month while commercial customers would see savings of about $34 a month.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is pausing new enrollments for a mostly federally funded program that helps families pay for child care as the agency anticipates a budget shortfall.  The department is also delaying expected benefit hikes for families in the Idaho Child Care Program, as it projects the program will be in a budget deficit caused by rising estimates of child care costs along with expanded eligibility for the program, with families paying a smaller share toward the child care covered.

A Jerome firefighter is facing charges of multiple sexual encounters with an under aged girl.  35 year old Colton Shane Hoffman has been charged with lewd conduct with a minor under 16, rape and sexual battery of a child along with a separate count of domestic battery involving a Jerome woman.  He has been placed on unpaid administrative leave from the fire department.

The Wapiti Fire burning in the Boise National Forest has forced the closure of State Highway 21 near Grandjean. Motorists planning to travel between Boise and Stanley will need to take an alternate route through Ketchum on State Highway 75. There is no estimate for when the road will reopen.  The Wapiti Fire is 10% contained and has burned more than 9,000 acres.

The Bureau of Land Management staff will conduct an emergency gather of wild horses from both the Sands Basin and Four Mile Wild Horse Herd Management Areas next week. Both areas were nearly completely burned by the lightning-caused Jump and Paddock fires.  Officials say there is simply not enough vegetation to sustain the horses into the coming winter months. The wild horses will be transported initially to the BLM Boise Wild Horse Off-Range Corrals.
